The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)
The MCAT is required of all applicants. This test must be taken between April 2006 through September of 2010 in order for the application to be considered for the class entering in 2010.
The accredited United States medical schools, acting through the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), have arranged for a standardized test to be given to all applicants: the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). The all day test is computer based and administered several times throughout the spring, summer and fall. Application forms may also be secured from most undergraduate premedical advisors.
Students planning to complete four years of undergraduate work are strongly advised to take the MCAT in the spring or summer of the junior year, but in any case, no later than September of the senior year. Students intending to begin medical studies after three years of undergraduate work should take the test no later than September of the third year. Students applying under the Early Decision Plan must take the MCAT no later than July of the application year. If Saint Louis University is designated as one of the applicant's medical school choices, results of the MCAT will be sent directly to this School of Medicine. Otherwise, applicants must make the necessary arrangements with American College Testing (ACT) to have their MCAT scores forwarded to the School.
