Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program Office

The SLU Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program Office, which is part of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, focuses on the recruitment, training and retention of primary care providers especially in medically underserved areas.  Throughout the student's medical education, the AHEC Program Offices contribute to curriculum and community-based training and service opportunities so that students can better understand factors that contribute to health disparities and develop their skills at delivering quality healthcare to culturally diverse populations.
