EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
This program is designed for primary care practitioners and allied health professionals. By attending this program participants will be able to: describe patient-centered as well as population-centered interventions to improve health outcomes, and describe current trends in health promotion and disease prevention behaviors and treatments.
ACCREDITATION:
Saint Louis University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Saint Louis University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
VALIDATION OF CONTENT:
The course director of this activity has insured that the content of this presentation conforms to the ACCME policy requiring that (1) all recommendations involving clinical medicine are based on evidence that is accepted within the profession of medicine as adequate justification for their indications and contraindications in the care of patients, and (2) all scientific research referred to, reported or used in support or justification of a patient care recommendation conforms to the generally accepted standards of experimental design, data collection and analysis.

It is the policy of Saint Louis University School of Medicine to insure balance, independence, objectivity and scientific rigor in its continuing medical education program. Faculty participating in these activities are required to disclose to the audiences prior to the activity the following:

The speaker indicated that he will not discuss any commercial products or services, nor will he discuss any unapproved pharmaceuticals. He will discuss preliminary research data, but all research presented has been reviewed and approved by the Duke IRB and focuses on the outcomes of community-based interventions. A similar study will be published in the Jan ’05 issue of Academic Medicine.
