 Division of Community Medicine

The Division of Community Health Promotion within the Department of Family and Community Medicine focuses on the entire spectrum of developing the family medicine workforce - recruitment, training and retention. Recruitment activities are conducted by the AHEC Program Clinicalto help identify and prepare students for primary care careers. Training activities include the academic and community-based clinical training and service opportunities to prepare students in family medicine. And, retention activities include education and services designed to maintain primary care providers within the region.

The objectives of this organization are to increase the number of African Americans and other minority students admitted to and graduated from health professional schools and to sponsor programs for minority youth to encourage their entrance into the health professions.
