Acquisition Cost
The acquisition cost for animals will include:
- The price charged by the vendor.
- All shipping charges (prorated when several orders are shipped together).
Note: a handling fee of $100.00 will be charged for importing/exporting animals from other institutions. - 20% service charge (30% full cost). If no price is charged by the vendor, a $10.00 service charge will be assessed ($15.00 full cost).
- A $ 10.00 per order expediting charge for late orders.
(Comparative Medicine personnel place animal orders every week on Thursday for delivery during the following week. The expediting charge will apply to orders received after this deadline.) - External customers who are not tax-exempt must create purchase orders with appropriate animal vendors. Comparative Medicine personnel will order animals against this purchase order and will process receipt of these animals according to the usual procedure. Animal vendors will bill these external non-tax-exempt customers directly.
It is prohibited for Comparative Medicine to apply charges for lab animals against a Saint Louis University purchase order. Please direct questions regarding this policy to the Comparative Medicine Business Manager at 314-977-8345.
