Audiology Externship
Saint Louis University School of Medicine offers a one-year Audiology Externship at SLUCare Audiology Clinics located throughout the greater St. Louis area. This program provides clinical experiences and skills that enable practitioners to provide quality audiometric care.
Curriculum
Your experience will focus on clinical care to various patient populations using the latest technology in the assessment of auditory, vestibular and aural rehabilitative services.
Since Saint Louis University is an educational institution, we encourage our externs to participate in our educational component. This will serve to supplement your clinic experience by providing you firsthand experience with surgical and non-surgical treatment for various otologic and vestibular disorders.

Journal Club
Poster Presentation at national or local meeting encouraged

Facilities
SLUCare Audiology has three clinic locations primarily serving the adult population. Pediatric clinical experience may include SLUCare affiliate Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
Graduation and Certification
Upon successful completion of the Audiology Externship, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from Saint Louis University School of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology, Division of Audiology.
Clinic Hours
Based on a 40-hour workweek, Mondays – Fridays.
Stipend
Externs receive a stipend during the twelve months of the program. Please contact the program director for further information.
Housing
You are responsible for providing your own living accommodations and transportation.
Application Process
Prerequisites:
To be eligible to apply for the Audiology Externship Program, applicant must be enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Audiology program. Candidates must have completed the didactic portion of the degree prior to being admitted to the externship program.

2. A non-refundable $30 application fee (check or money order) made payable to Saint Louis University
3. Please mail three original letters of recommendations (at least two from health professionals)
4. All official academic transcripts from colleges and/or universities
5. Record of Immunization
6. Proof of malpractice insurance

Appointment letters will be mailed in March. Your letter of acceptance / rejection is expected no later than January 15th. Audiology Externship Program runs from July to June annually.
