Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG)
at Saint Louis University School of Medicine

What is FMIG?

FMIG is a great vehicle to help students explore technology, clinical resources, research, leadership development, career choice and much more. We do not require a commitment to a career in family medicine. We have active members who go into other specialties.

The Family Medicine Interest Group is an affiliate organization of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Missouri Academies of Family Physicians, which aids its members in the understanding of the multidimensional health care system, especially at the primary care level.

The Mission of the Saint Louis University Family Medicine Interest Group is to increase awareness of and stimulate interest in family medicine by providing service to the students, the school, the community, and the Saint Louis area.

The Purpose of the Saint Louis University Family Medicine Interest Group shall be to promote the profession of Family Medicine by

  • providing information on careers available in family medicine
  • encouraging communication between faculty and FMIG members
  • provide leadership opportunities
  • facilitate communication concerning the field of family medicine through forums, brown bag lunches, and/or our FMIG web page
  • inform members of current issues affecting the practice of family medicine
  • provide opportunity for state and national involvement in the Missouri Academies of Family Physicians (MAFP) and American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)
