Belleville is a community of 45,000 residents and serves as the county seat for St. Clair County with a population of about 300,000. It is a progressive community and enjoys the advantage of being located only 15 miles from St. Louis. Both Belleville and St. Clair County enjoy the economic benefits of a highly diversified manufacturing base and a location in some of the finest farmlands in the nation.

Scott Air Force Base is located about six miles east of Belleville on a 2,500 acre site and is the largest area employer. Scott serves as headquarters for the U.S. Transportation Command, the Air Mobility Command, the Eighteenth Air Force, the Surface Deployment Distribution Command, and the Defense Information Technology Command.

The Belleville public school system includes eight elementary schools, two junior high schools, two high schools, and Southwestern Illinois College. In addition, the Edwardsville campus of Southern Illinois University and major St. Louis universities, including Saint Louis University, are located within a short driving distance. Many city parks, bike trails, public golf courses, and easy access to the superb recreational lands of southern Illinois and Missouri combine to make Belleville an excellent community in which to settle and live.
