NIH Loan Repayment Programs

The NIH Loan Repayment Programs thank you for the institutional support you have provided our applicants in the past. We want to let you know that the application cycle for fiscal year 2008 is currently open. The deadline for applicants to submit their online application is December 1, 2007.

NIH LRP is designed to assist individuals pursuing careers in biomedical and behavioral research. This program, introduced in 2001, is intended to assist health professionals by providing loan repayment of up to $35,000 of educational debt each year for a two-year research commitment. NIH offers 5 different loan repayment programs:

• Clinical
• Pediatric
• Health Disparities
• Clinical Research for Individuals with Disadvantaged Backgrounds
• Contraception and Infertility

Applicants must be doctoral-level health professionals with U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status, who will devote at least an average of 20 hours per week over a two year period to qualified research. Awards may be renewed, if eligibility requirements continue to be met.
