Buying a House or Condo
BUYING A HOUSE OR A CONDO
There are many medical students who have decided to own their own house or condo. Right now, you might hear that it is a “seller’s market” in St. Louis because houses are selling at an all-time high. However, with the rates as low as they are on house loans, it is also a “buyer’s market” if you can find a good deal. 17 students who own their own property filled out this year’s survey. The following areas were popular: Dogtown, St. Louis Hills, North/South Hampton, The Hill, Affton, South County, Benton Park, Bevo Mill (south), Central West End and some in Granite City, IL.
Furthermore, most people who buy in the CWE are buying condos. Just remember that most condos have a montly condo association fee so be sure to ask about this (can be as high as 300.00/month extra)!. Also ask about parking, some units come with spaces and some don’t.
Another fine option if it is available to you is to have a family member buy a home or put the down payment down for you and get a few roommates to cover the monthly house payment. This would be a great way to save money!!
