Living with Parents or Relatives
A few students returned surveys noting that they lived at home with their parents and that it seems to work out just fine. The main suggestion about this living arrangement is that your family needs to live relatively close to the school (both students’ parents lived in the Central West End).
This options allows you to save a lot of money, especially if you have to take out loans to pay for your living expenses while in medical school. Just think, doing this for 1 year can save you 13,000.00! So, you may consider it your first year to see if you like it or not!
Just realize that living at home can also be a source of extra stress while in medical school if your family requires a lot of time commitment from you in terms of family dinners, functions, cleaning, etc.
You will be the only one who can truly decide if this option will work for you, but in the essence of costs, this option is a big plus!
