WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF THE COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE HIV VACCINE
TRIALS UNIT AT SAINT LOUIS UNIVERSITY
The Community Advisory Board of the HIV Vaccine Trials Unit at Saint Louis
University is a volunteer panel of individuals from the general public and communities
affected by HIV/AIDS, which:
1. Represents populations affected by the research through its own composition;
2. Provides investigators and site staff with informed commentary regarding
trial design issues, such as volunteer selection criteria, questionnaire design
and follow-up plans, informed consent procedures, risk-reduction interventions,
community education and outreach, and recruiting and retention planning;
3. Acts as a liaison between the HIV Vaccine Trials Unit and those interested
and concerned about its work; and
4. Examines the ethical and social implications and impact of the HIV Vaccine
Trial Unit’s clinical programs.
As members of the Community Advisory Board (CAB), we welcome your interest
in our work. Ideas you may have about the research or the site in general are
welcome at the CAB.
