- Policy
Departmental functions held primarily for social purposes require prior approval from the Medical Center Finance Office. - Purpose
To contain costs associated with large social functions sponsored by the School of Medicine. - Procedure
Completion of a Social Function Prior Approval Form is required for departmental gatherings that are held primarily for social purposes. These include holiday functions, receptions, retreats, or major student/resident functions. The entire estimated cost of the affair, including food, gifts, entertainment, rentals, etc. should be entered on the Prior Approval Form, which is available from the Medical Center Finance Office. Exceptions to this policy would include refreshments or meals associated with recruitment (faculty, students, residents, or volunteers) or guest speakers if in compliance with Local Meal Expense limits and number of attendees (4). - Reference
