Research Summary:

The major research interests of my laboratory are the study of inflammatory processes, acute lung injury models, signal transduction in inflammatory cells, eukaryotic cell movement and regulation of endothelial cell function. A major focus currently involves the exploration of regulatory mechanisms of neutrophil movement and neutrophil- endothelial cell interactions during inflammatory processes. Elucidation of transmission of signals from the plasma membrane to the nucleus and evaluation of the role of kinase cascades as signaling mediators are central to the research. The ultimate goals of these studies are to elucidate signaling pathways in phagocytic and endothelial cells and to design new approaches for regulation of pathologic processes.
