Multicultural Initiative for New Doctors (MIND)
The MIND Program is an expansion of existing undergraduate and medical school recruitment and retention efforts through the Office of Multicultural Affairs. It is a comprehensive project designed to motivate, encourage, enhance, and sustain the interest of disadvantaged students in pursuit of a medical career. In addition, it is designed to support and track students from the elementary level through graduation from medical school, into residency and practice.
A key component of the MIND Program is the THINK BIG (link to what this means) philosophy created by Dr. Ben Carson-- Director of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins since 1984. He is Associate Professor of Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Oncology and Pediatrics. He is also the Co-Director of the Johns Hopkins Craniofacial Center.
