The Department of Radiology at Saint Louis University consists of 21 full-time faculty and 48 part-time and clinical faculty. A strong educational program is a long tradition within the department with residents and medical students receiving an intense and wide exposure of clinical experience. This practice continues with the instruction of medical students, residents and fellows in daily clinical practice and regular didactic seminars. Conferences cover diverse topics related to the major subspecialties of radiology as well as developments in imaging and interventional techniques. Seminars in continuing medical education for radiologists and other radiology professionals are also organized by the department, and many faculty members participate in regional, national and international programs throughout the year. Although faculty and residents primarily focus on research related to the clinical practice, there is ongoing basic and applied research in MRI and diagnostic imaging supported by a medical physicist. Emphasis is placed on providing professional service to patients and referring physicians in a scholarly and competent manner.
